Call for Artists
Markham Arts Council Art Show - May 2010
Artists and photographers interested in showing and selling their work (limited edition reproductions accepted, however, original art preferred) are invited to participate in the Markham Arts Council Art Show. (Sorry, no space available for 3D work. Copies of another artist’s work is unacceptable.)
Dates:
Monday, May 31 to Monday, June 7 inclusive Opening Reception - Wednesday, June 2 from 6 to 10 pm (Artists, invite your friends)
Location:
The Planing Mill, 139 Main Street North in Unionville (north of Highway 7, past the Go train tracks)
Each artist will receive:
Approximately 85 square feet of display space on a wall or display grid.
Your art exposed to thousands of potential buyers over the ten days of the show. The closing weekend coincides with the Unionville Village Festival held on June 5 6 and attended by over 18,000 people.
Invitations you can send to your friends by e-mail, printed invitations, posters and name labels for your display.
Plus:
The Art Show will be advertised in the Economist and Sun, and the show will also be mentioned in a variety of local online and print publications.
The People’s Choice Competition will be held again with the winner receiving a feature article in the Markham Arts Council newsletter (Arts in Motion), One-year free membership in the Arts Council and a lapel pin.
This show is a co-operative venture and all artists are required to:
Be a Member in good standing with the Markham Arts Council.
Live within the Town of Markham.
Gallery-sit during the week-long event. (Two shifts of approximately 3.5 hours each)
Hang their own work. Limited hanging supplies and some volunteer help will be available.
Provide an artist's statement and biography for the show binder.
Contribute $60 to help defray expenses. An invoice will be sent upon confirmation of your participation in the Art Show. (Half spaces are available.)
Donate 20% of any sales to the Markham Arts Council to further its work.
